[转帖]EFI系统问世 Intel宣判传统BIOS死亡
Intel在今年的开发者论坛(IDF)上真是屡有惊人之语。这不，他们的可扩展固件界面（EFI）工作组的工程师又宣布要将自IBM兼容PC问世以来就一直伴随其发展的BIOS (Basic Input/Output System)送进坟墓。 大部分的人只知道BIOS是一段PC在开机启动时一闪而过的神秘的配置信息和测试代码。虽然它的作用是至关重要的，不过有关它如何编制和配置并没有固定的标准，而不同厂商的扩展板卡同BIOS冲突的情况也屡见不鲜。 EFI承诺将会从根本上改变这一切。EFI是一套微型操作系统，不受BIOS的限制。第一个不同就是开机的画面。它支持高分辨率显示，而且使用的是更直观的图形用户界面。它也具备网络功能，可以远程检测机器。 另外，EFI使用C语言编写，而不再是恐龙级的低级汇编语言，支持各种标准的编程工具。还可以自行添加其他更多更有用的检测，配置程序，以及可以在机器出现问题时设法找出问题所在。由于它是保存在硬盘某段保护扇区的程序，有自己的文件系统，所以还会受到数字版权管理和安全设计人员的欢迎，因为他们可以从中获得更高层次的对硬件的控制权力。 最后，EFI还可以模拟并运行在传统的BIOS之上，以此支持旧式机器，在需要时交付系统管理权。 |
