英语读写是大学学生必修的一门公共基础课，是高等教育课程的一个重要组成部分。大学英语的教学目标在于培养学生的英语综合应用能力，特别是读写能力，使学习者能以英语为工具有效地进行书面的交流；同时增强其自主学习能力，提高综合文化素养，以适应我国社会经济发展和国际文化交流的需要
English reading and writing is a compulsory common elementary course for each undergraduate, which plays a very important role in tertiary education. The target of the course aims at cultivating integrated English proficiency, especially in reading and writing, to let students effectively use English as a medium in written communication. In addition, the course would also focus on cultivation of self-studying ability and improving student's integrated English literacy, to let them adopt to the social and economic development of our country and meet the need of International exchange of ideas.
英语听说 English listening and oral skills
“英语听说”是依据高教部颁发的《大学英语课程教学要求》中提出的培养学生的英语综合能力, 特别是听说能力的教学目标，及社会对大学生英语应用能力要求不断提高的形势下, 面向全校非英语专业大学本科生开设的一门公共必修课。使学生在今后工作和社会交往中能用英语有效地进行口头和书面的信息交流，以适应我国社会发展和国际交流的需要。该课程分为英语听力和口语两部分。
This compulsory common course is designed for non-English majors undergraduate according to the "Teaching Requirement of University English Course" published by the Ministry of Tertiary Education, which aims at training students the integrated skills in English, especially listening and oral skills, in order to cope with the increasing expectation on the English proficiency of university students. The course is separated into two parts, English listening and oral skills. Students would be able to communicate in English effectively in their future workplace and social communication, either in oral or written form, in order to adopt to the social and economic development of our country and meet the need of International exchange of ideas.
